"Gateway to the Temples of Angkor"
Most visitors come to Siem Reap for Angkor, the vast temple complex just outside town. Angkor Wat at the reflecting pool is the icon, but Bayon, Ta Prohm, and the smaller outlying temples are what make a second or third day worthwhile. The town itself has a night market, riverside restaurants, and easy cooking or craft classes. Heat and temple steps are the main challenge, and a multi-day Angkor pass is the practical way to visit.
