"Beer Halls, Bavarian Style & Easy Alps Access"
Munich's center gathers around Marienplatz, where the Frauenkirche's green onion domes rise beside the neo-Gothic New Town Hall and its glockenspiel. Beer gardens, the English Garden, and world-class museums fill the city, while trains reach lakes, castles, and Alpine towns in about an hour or two. Neuschwanstein is a popular day trip, not the city itself. Munich feels orderly and a bit expensive, and it is excellent in late spring and during the September festival season if rooms are booked early.
