Lake Bled
Slovenia
"Fairy-Tale Island Church in the Julian Alps"
Lake Bled is one of Europe's most enchanting scenes: a tiny island topped by the Church of the Assumption, a medieval castle perched on a cliff, and the Julian Alps rising behind. Ride a traditional pletna boat to the island and ring the wishing bell, walk the 3.7-mile lakeshore path, and hike to Ojstrica or Mala Osojnica for the classic viewpoint. Nearby Vintgar Gorge and Lake Bohinj add nature, and Bled's famous cream cake is a must. Ljubljana is under an hour away.
