"The Blue Medina in the Rif Mountains"
Chefchaouen tumbles down a Rif Mountains hillside in shades of blue. The medina's lanes, doorways, and staircases are the main attraction; Plaza Uta el-Hammam and the kasbah museum sit at the center. Easy hikes reach the Spanish Mosque viewpoint and Ras El Maa waterfalls. It is a calm counterpoint to Marrakech—usually two nights after Tangier or as a loop from Fes. Shopping focuses on wool blankets and lightweight textiles.
